It’s almost 2022, and our New Year’s DJ Sam Varga has curated a special playlist to help you ring in the new year right!
Varga, a Louisville, Kentucky native, moved to Nashville to pursue his career in music. He originally intended to be a writer, but says, “After a year [he] got impatient and started releasing [his] own music.” His goal now is to make music for as long as he can.
Varga performed the Gibson Guitar Riff before kickoff of Nashville SC’s final home match of 2021 when Nashville SC went on to defeat Orlando City SC 3-1 in the opening round of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. He describes the soccer community in Nashville as “a whole lot of fun.” The singer-songwriter appreciates the “completely different sports culture dropped right in the heart of the city” and says he is grateful to have a team in the place he now calls home.
His love of the game started early as he grew up in a “big soccer house,” and considering the World Cup always fell at the same time as his family’s vacation, “some of [his] favorite memories are centered around watching those games.”
When it comes to the new year, Varga says he’s most looking forward to “playing shows, releasing music, and watching NSC in our new stadium.” Keep an eye out for new music from Sam Varga in 2022! He’ll be dropping a single every month starting in January.
