NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2021) – Nashville Soccer Club and 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee will join forces throughout the month of February to raise funds in support of educational opportunities for Black male youth. In honor of Black History Month, the club will release a special edition patch that fans and supporters may purchase through Feb. 28 by visiting www.nashvillesc.comor here.
All proceeds from the purchase of the patch will benefit the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee, a non-profit organization providing resources to further the academic and social development of black male students in Nashville and surrounding Middle Tennessee.
“We are excited to celebrate Black History Month and to leverage this moment to support the work of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee and their programs to help black male youth develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in life”, said Nashville SC Senior Director of Community Engagement Brandon Hill. “Our club and our league as a whole are committed to addressing racial disparities in the black community, and this month provides a wonderful opportunity to promote our commitment to this goal.”
The design combines Nashville SC’s signature gold “N” pattern with Black History Month’s historic colors of green, red and black. This fusion represents Nashville SC’s commitment to its core value of inclusion and unwavering support of racial justice through recognizing the significance of black history and the contributions of African Americans. The commemorative patch is the first of a series of patches Nashville SC will launch in 2021 in conjunction with Soccer for All, Major League Soccer’s platform to advance diversity and inclusion.
"The 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee, Inc. greatly appreciates the support of Nashville Soccer Club in its development of this creative commemorative Black History Month patch”, says Ronald C. Small, Chairman of the 100 Black Men of Middle Tennessee.
“Black History Month is a time to celebrate black heritage, culture, and to highlight the roles and contributions of African Americans. We are fortunate and grateful to have Nashville SC join in embracing the accomplishments of African Americans and to foster our mission to nurture and enhance the growth, development and opportunities for young black males of Middle Tennessee," Small concluded.
