The Boys in Gold picked up their first three points of the season with an emphatic performance against the Portland Timbers at GEODIS Park last weekend. The squad will look to start a win streak with a matchup against early Supporters Shield leaders Philadelphia Union.

Key Storylines

More Firsts – Last Saturday at GEODIS Park was a party. Andy Najar scored Nashville’s first goal of the season and his first goal as a Boy in Gold. Fellow off-season signing Eddi Tagseth registered his first assist in Nashville colors, while Ahmed Qasem made his first start and netted his first goal for Nashville.

Midfielder Gastón Brugman also earned his first minutes in Nashville colors after the MLS Cup MVP made his move to Nashville from LA Galaxy.

Philly’s Soaring – Through three matches into the 2025 MLS season, Philadelphia is the only team in the Eastern Conference that has collected all nine available points. Their +7 goal difference leads MLS. Union striker Tai Baribo boasts six goals — which leads MLS — through 234 minutes played, while Union fullback Kai Wagner leads MLS with four assists through 270 minutes.

The Union are led by Bradley Carnell, who’s in his first season as head coach after the Union parted ways with long-time head coach Jim Curtain.

Defensive Discipline – Although it’s still early in the 2025 season, the Boys in Gold have one of the best defensive records in the East. For the second time in club history, Nashville has two shutouts in its first three MLS matches. Nashville also has conceded the joint second-fewest goals (two) in the Eastern Conference this season.
