The Soundwaves Gallery: Voices of Nashville is a one-of-a-kind exhibition curated by Nashville Soccer Club in partnership with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville celebrating the intersection of sport and art to showcase the dynamic city Nashville SC calls home. The inaugural exhibition includes 48 works by 29 Middle Tennessee artists. Ranging in age from their 20s to 60s, selected artists hail from a variety of communities in 21 different ZIP codes across Davidson and adjoining counties. Artists were selected from a public call for art centered around personal narratives about what it means to be a Nashvillian, accompanied by work representing those unique perspectives. The art is as diverse as its local creators in form, medium, and genre. Together, the group of artists compose a collective chorus exploring who we’ve been, who we are, and who we dream to be.

Nashville was built by immigrants
like you and I.
I remember Nolensville Road.
What it’s been like growing up in this corridor with its diverse languages, cuisines, and smiles.
I remember what Nashvillle was like before it was an “it” city.
When no one blinked an eye for this place and the plea of our immigrant and refugee Sisters and Brothers fell on deaf ears.
“Nuestras voces se escuchan, y estamos aqui para quedarnos porque este es nuestro hogar.”
“Our voices are heard and we are here to stay because this is our home”
Can you hear our voices now?
We’re growing now.
We’re evolving.
We built this city.
We are seeds.
Watch us flourish.
The Artist
Andrés Bustamante @andresbustm is an interdisciplinary artist born in Cali, Colombia based in Nashville, TN. He attended Watkins College of Art followed by a self-taught, experimental practice.
Curiosity is a catalyst to malleable mediums, exploring the abstraction in human emotion and human existence. Informed by his immigrant experience at a young age which led him to existential questions about reality, exploring concepts of human divinity as a reflection of the unseen, and researching the abstract mystery of life reflected in psychonaut journeys. Unquenched awe and wonder inspire his creative process. Bustamante is passionate about community empowerment, mental health, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the visual arts. To provide opportunities for underserved communities to engage in creative play, nurturing awe, and wonder. Empowering communities with art fund-raisers, workshops, and murals via his community empower project, Persona Contemporary @personacontemporary
Bustamante is open to collaborating with local and national interior designers, art collectors, architects, art brokers, art curators. His large-scale sculptural murals and fine art sculptures fit great in luxury spaces both public and residential. Andrés Bustamante welcomes commissions of all types.
