GODOY RETURNS, ACCAM SCORES FOR RESPECTIVE MLS CLUBS
NASHVILLE – Nashville Soccer Club’s MLS roster is beginning to take shape.
Earlier in August, Nashville made its fifth MLS signing with the acquisition of midfielder Aníbal Godoy from the San Jose Earthquakes. He joins David Accam, Derrick Jones, Cameron Lancaster and Daniel Ríos on the MLS roster for 2020.
As we continue to build towards the club’s start in MLS in 2020, we’ll keep you updated on how Nashville’s first MLS signings are faring with their respective clubs. Here’ a look at what the first MLS Boys in Gold are up to now.
ANÍBAL GODOY
Acquired by Nashville SC on August 7, 2019. He will join Nashville SC at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Position: Midfielder
Current Club: San Jose Earthquakes (MLS)
Godoy has been working his way back after suffering an abdomen injury with the Panamanian National Team in the buildup to the 2019 Gold Cup. On Wednesday night, Godoy made his first start since the injury, playing all 90 minutes in a 4-0 loss to LAFC. It was Godoy's 100th career appearance for the Earthquakes.
Over the weekend, Godoy appeared in the squad for the Earthquakes for the first time since June 2, although he was not used as a substitute. Prior to his injury, Godoy started 13 of San Jose’s 14 matches to start the season.
DAVID ACCAM
Acquired by Nashville SC on May 16, 2019. He will join Nashville SC at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
Position: Winger
Current Club: Columbus Crew SC
David Accam has been a regular contributor for Columbus since being traded there from the Philadelphia Union. Over the weekend, he scored his second league goal in Crew colors late in a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC. It was his second MLS goal for Crew SC and fourth overall, having scored in both of the Crew's U.S. Open Cup matches.
This week, he started and played all 90 minutes in Columbus' 1-0 loss on the road to NYCFC.
DANIEL RÍOS
Acquired by Nashville SC on November 20, 2018.
Position: Forward
Current Club: Nashville SC (USL)
Ríos has been an offensive juggernaut for Nashville SC this season, scoring 17 goals so far in 2019. That puts him in second place in the USL Championship Golden Boot race. Over the weekend, Ríos scored twice against Charlotte Independence in Nashville SC’s 3-1 win. He sits one goal away from 50 for his career.
DERRICK JONES
Acquired by Nashville SC on May 9, 2019.
Position: Midfielder
Current Club: Nashville SC (USL)
Jones made two league appearances for Nashville SC before suffering an injury against Charleston Battery in a Third Round U.S. Open Cup match. He has been working his way back into training and is rehabbing hard to return to action soon.
CAMERON LANCASTER
Acquired by Nashville SC on December 20, 2018.
Position: Forward
Current Club: Nashville SC (USL)
Lancaster has been in and out of the lineup this season as he’s battled injuries, but when he’s been involved, he has contributed in a big way. In his 13 league appearances this season, Lancaster has five goals, good for second on the team. He recently returned from injury to play in the final minutes in Nashville SC's 3-1 win against Charlotte Independence on the road.
