NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 1, 2021) – Nashville Soccer Club in conjunction with U.S. Soccer, have announced that All-Star Defender Walker Zimmerman has been added to the final Men’s National Team roster and will represent the United States Men’s National Team in the next phase of 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches.
Zimmerman and the USMNT opens the three-match set at home on Thursday, Oct. 7 against Jamaica. Kickoff at Q2 Stadium in Austin is set for 6:45 p.m. CT (ESPN2, Univision, TUDN, Sirius XM).
Three days later, the USA travels to face Panama at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City (5 p.m. CT (Paramount+, UNIVERSO). The USMNT closes out the window with its first visit to Lower.com Field in Columbus to take on Costa Rica at 6 p.m. CT on Oct. 13 (ESPN2, UniMás and TUDN).
Zimmerman was recently called in for the previously round of World Cup Qualifying matches and is coming off a 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup call up that saw the reigning MLS Defender of the Year start all three matches in the opening round while captaining the National Team for the final two matches.
The July 16 Gold Cup match against Martinique was the first time Zimmerman had worn the captain’s band for the USMNT in his career while leading the United States to 6-1 victory. Zimmerman enters this slate of qualifying matches with 17 international caps for the United States.
Zimmerman and the Boys in Gold return to action this Sunday against New York City FC from Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. Fans can catch the action on CW58 as well as Nashvillesc.com for fans in the Nashville market.
