Key Storylines
Nashville Nostalgia Kit Debut - Nashville SC is set to take the pitch tonight in the brand new Nashville Nostalgia kit. It will serve as the club’s first-ever third kit and is part of the 2025 10-team adidas ‘Archive Collection'.
“It’s always fun to wear something different in front of our fans at GEODIS Park, and this kit definitely feels special. It’s got a cool 90’s vibe, and I think the fans tonight are really going to enjoy it as it is something new like they’ve never seen before,” said Nashville SC midfielder Eddi Tagseth.
Fans interested in purchasing Nashville SC’s new adidas ‘Archive Collection’ jersey can do so beginning today, July 16, at the GEODIS Park Team Store and by visiting the Nashville SC Mobile Shop or MLSStore.com.
Matchup History – Wednesday night will be the second matchup of the season between the two teams, who last met on May 28th at Lower.com Field in Columbus. Sam Surridge and Hany Mukhtar scored the two goals in what was a thrilling match.
Columbus has never picked up three points when visiting Nashville SC. Nashville drew with Columbus 2-2 on March 30, 2024, the Crew’s last visit to GEODIS Park. In 2023, Nashville triumphed 3-1 while drawing 1-1 in 2021.
All-Star Squadded Up – Earlier this week, Sam Surridge and Hany Mukhtar joined Andy Najar on the 2025 MLS All-Star roster. It’s a well-deserved nod for the pair of Designated Player forwards for Nashville who are both making waves in MLS this season.
Sam Surridge enters Wednesday’s matchup with 16 goals in MLS play this season, joint-first in the league. The Englishman is also fourth in the league in goals + assists with 18, while Hany Mukhtar has 15 MLS goal contributions (ten goals + five assists) so far this season. The German attacker has been named to the last four MLS All-Star teams.
“I’m incredibly proud and honored to be named to the All-Star team for the fourth time,” said Mukhtar. “It means so much to be recognized among such talented players, and I’m truly grateful for the support from my teammates, coaches, and fans. This is a moment I don’t take for granted, and I’m excited to represent Nashville!”
“I'm really happy to be selected and also happy to be selected with Andy and Hany as well,” said Surridge. “It just shows how well we've been doing collectively as a team. I'm looking forward to having a really fun time and it is a big achievement.”
Level on Points – Nashville and Columbus are meeting at a time when both teams are level on points (41) in the Eastern Conference. Mathematically, it’s possible for the Boys in Gold to go top of the Eastern Conference and the Supporters Shield standings with a win against the Crew, a Philadelphia loss to Montreal, a FC Cincinnati loss to Inter Miami, and a San Diego draw or loss to Toronto FC.
