NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 11, 2022) – Nashville Soccer Club selected UCLA defender Ahmed Longmire and University of Akron goalkeeper Will Meyer with the 10th and 38th overall picks, respectively, in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas. Nashville SC concluded the draft passing on the 77th overall pick.
Nashville SC added Longmire with the 10th overall pick following a trade that sent the No. 26 overall pick and $125,000 in General Allocation Money to the Colorado Rapids. The Rapids will receive an additional $50,000, if Longmire meets certain performance-based metrics.
Longmire joins Nashville SC after finishing his collegiate career at UCLA. In his two years with the Bruins, the defender made 20 appearances and earned All-Pac 12 Second Team honors in his first season. Longmire earned all-conference honors in his final three seasons, after playing 59 matches between UCLA and Utah Valley University, where he started his college career.
Nashville SC selected goalkeeper Will Meyer with the 10th pick in the Second Round of the SuperDraft. In two seasons with Akron, Meyer appeared in 27 matches for the Zips with eight clean sheets, including a stretch of three consecutive shutouts in 2021. Prior to joining Akron, Meyer was at the University of Louisville where he appeared in 15 matches for the Cardinals with 13 starts and nine shutouts.
