GET TO KNOW NASHVILLE SC'S NEW DEFENDER WITH USMNT EXPERIENCE

NASHVILLE – Dan Lovitz went to the Cayman Islands last week as a member of the Montreal Impact. He returned as a member of Nashville SC.

Nashville SC acquired six players during the course of the 2019 Major League Soccer Expansion Draft, and one of the biggest acquisitions was Lovitz. In fact, while the trade that brought him to Nashville was being announced, Lovitz was warming up to start for the U.S. Men’s National Team’s clash against Cuba.

Lovitz is an MLS veteran that has earned caps at the international level, and he’ll be a big presence on Nashville SC’s backline in 2020. Here’s everything you need to know about him.

Three Things to Know

For Club and Country – Lovitz has been a key figure at left back for two MLS clubs over his six seasons in the league, but this past year he has earned looks from the U.S. Men’s National Team. He has earned 13 caps in 2019 for the USMNT, including three appearances in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Lovitz started six of those matches, and the U.S. claimed victory in all but one of his starts.

North of the Border – Up until his trade to Nashville, Lovitz had spent his entire MLS career with Canadian clubs Toronto FC and Montreal Impact. In that time, he has helped guide both Toronto and Montreal to successful seasons and also helped each club capture a Canadian Championship (Toronto in 2016, Montreal in 2019).

Left Back’s Best Friend – Lovitz has a dog named Remington. He joins many of his new teammates as a proud dog owner. Stay tuned for more Nashville SC pups coming soon.

What They’re Saying
Head Coach Gary Smith

“Daniel Lovitz, as far as left backs go in this league and maybe I would even say around Europe and South America, Daniel is as good as any. He’s in the camp currently, he brings tremendous experience and of course incredible quality to that left back spot, which is where we see him.”

MLSSoccer.com

“A hard-working, versatile player, Lovitz has emerged as a reliable starter at left back. He should be a Day 1 starter for Nashville.”
